Maintenance Engineer

Overview

In this role you will maintain production equipment on a busy manufacturing site in Telford, driving uptime and reliability. You’ll perform reactive repairs and proactive maintenance, while collaborating with production teams and mentoring junior engineers. The position supports continuous improvement and Spare parts management as part of a broader reliability effort. This is a hands-on role with real impact on plant availability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out repairs
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
• Fault-find and identify root causes of equipment issues
• Work with production teams to minimise downtime
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Assist with spare parts management and maintenance records
• Mentor apprentices or junior engineers where appropriate

Key requirements

• HNC or NVQ Level 4 in an engineering discipline
• Previous maintenance engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Electrical knowledge beneficial but not essential
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Current or recent experience as multiskilled maintenance engineer or related roles
