Staff Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will own the technical direction for new ad formats in the Liftoff SDK, shaping native/web architecture and cross-platform compatibility. You’ll drive cross-team initiatives from problem definition through rollout, improving automation quality and SDK interoperability. You’ll lead performance, reliability, and rendering improvements while balancing short- and long-term tradeoffs. You’ll define testing standards and guide experimentation, including canary-release strategies, to optimize ad unit performance. You’ll mentor engineers, influence roadmaps, and uphold high engineering standards across the team.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for new ad format development in the SDK, including architecture decisions for native/web and cross-platform compatibility
• Independently scope and lead ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from problem definition through rollout (automation quality, creative/SDK interoperability)
• Drive multi-quarter improvements to system efficiency, reliability, and rendering performance with appropriate tradeoffs
• Set and evangelize testing strategy and standards (unit, integration, automated) across the team
• Design and drive experimentation and canary-release strategy for ad unit performance
• Mentor and technically lead other engineers, guiding junior/mid-level engineers’ growth
• Represent the team in cross-functional and roadmap discussions, influencing prioritization and scope
• Help define the team’s engineering bar for code quality, security/privacy, cost efficiency, and production hygiene
• Contribute to hiring and leveling by participating in interviews and maintaining technical standards of the role

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6 years of relevant experience
• Deep expertise in JavaScript (ES6+), CSS preprocessors, and HTML5 with architectural decision-making experience in this stack
• Experience shaping Agile processes for a team
• Strong communication skills with ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
