Overview

As a Pricing Analyst you support day-to-day actuarial pricing and assist the pricing transformation program within Ascot’s London-based operation. You work with underwriting teams to apply actuarial pricing techniques, maintain rating tools, and help develop the Pricing Framework and reporting. The role offers exposure to cross-functional pricing initiatives and data-driven insights across lines of business. You’ll collaborate with experienced colleagues, learn Renew-based pricing, and contribute to a growing actuarial function within a collaborative, ambitious culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day pricing support and ad-hoc case pricing with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Maintain and validate rating tools and pricing capabilities across classes of business including model documentation
  • Contribute to the Pricing Framework and Lloyd’s Pricing Maturity Matrix, and promote adoption of pricing concepts
  • Build relationships with underwriting teams to support adoption of pricing tools
  • Assist with portfolio management reporting and deriving insights from hx Renew data
  • Prepare rate adequacy/change reporting and materials for committee and external meetings (Lloyd’s, PRA) and the Actuarial Function Report
  • Support the Pricing Transformation project by migrating models from Excel to hx Renew and rebuilding models in Renew
  • Help document pricing models in hx Renew and provide Renew support to underwriting teams
  • Test and validate model functionality in hx Renew and assist with data integration between hx Renew and other systems
  • Contribute to group actuarial culture, seek efficiencies, engage in industry workshops, and liaise with IT, MI, Data, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Exposure Management

Key requirements

  • Numerate academic background (e.g., mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, engineering)
  • 0–2 years’ relevant experience; recent graduates encouraged
  • Studying towards or aiming to start IFoA actuarial examinations
  • Interest in actuarial work and pricing; strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated with a willingness to learn and solve problems
  • Good written and verbal communication and ability to build cross-team relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Python, hx Renew or Power BI is advantageous
  • Familiarity with C#, SQL, VBA or R is beneficial but not essential
  • Eagerness to learn new software and technical skills
  • Awareness of data-driven pricing concepts and risk-focused thinking
  • Proactive and self-motivated
