Overview

You will help enable Scotland’s renewable ambitions by ensuring ecological consenting and environmental requirements are integrated into asset management for the transmission network. You’ll work with operational and project teams to embed planning conditions and monitor Biodiversity Net Gain and protected species. The role offers autonomy, cross‑functional collaboration, and a real opportunity to influence the energy transition. Responsibilities

  • Support operational teams to maintain the network while embedding ecological consenting and environmental requirements into asset management systems
  • Collaborate with the Consents and Environment team to ensure enduring ecological planning conditions are understood early for smooth project handover
  • Implement proportionate monitoring for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and protected species; advise operations to meet goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, project teams, and statutory authorities

Key requirements

  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and consenting regimes
  • Proven project management skills (consenting oversight, environmental compliance, consultant management, cost control, risk management, quality oversight, programme coordination)
  • Degree in ecology or related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred
  • Experience obtaining ecological permits and licences and implementing mitigation with the business
