Financial Controller – PBSUK and Irwell Law

Overview

In this role you lead the PBSUK and Irwell Law finance team to safeguard the integrity of financial statements while partnering with the business to drive profitability. You will own management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis, with a focus on margin clarity and informed decision making. You’ll drive process improvements and standardise practices across the group, sharing best practice and ensuring timely, accurate insights. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical accounting with strategic business partnering to support growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the team delivering timely management accounts and month-end close aligned to group deadlines
• Ensure accurate P&L and balance sheet ownership with robust controls and low error levels
• Provide insightful variance analysis and performance reporting to stakeholders
• Develop and implement a KPI reporting framework linking financials, sales, efficiency, and staffing to group requirements
• Drive process and system enhancements to improve accuracy, speed, and consistency of MI (‘one version of the truth’)
• Oversee commercial finance processes, cost control, reconciliations, VAT returns, and intercompany/group recharges
• Collaborate with Group Finance and Payroll to coordinate monthly sign-off controls
• Partner with PBSUK management team to forecast, budget, and communicate financial risks and opportunities
• Lead recruitment, development, and performance management of the finance team
