Senior Consultant – Asset Management & Regulatory Advice – Water Sector

Overview

In this role you will deliver high‑quality regulatory guidance to clients in regulated sectors, leading workstreams or delivering independent assignments. You’ll provide evidence‑based analysis on regulatory requirements, price controls, performance frameworks, and assurance, while collaborating with senior leaders and mentoring juniors. You’ll identify opportunities to reduce risk and raise client performance, building relationships to influence strategic thinking and grow Stantec’s Advisory Services. This position offers hybrid work across the UK and impact across major utilities and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead workstreams within engagements or manage smaller assignments end-to-end
• Produce clear, evidence-based regulatory analysis and advice on requirements, price controls, and performance frameworks
• Collaborate with Principals and Directors and support junior colleagues
• Identify client improvement opportunities to reduce risk and boost efficiency
• Build relationships to shape client strategy and raise the profile of Advisory Services
• Facilitate workshops and support senior stakeholder discussions
• Manage multiple workstreams and priorities effectively

Key requirements

• Experience in a regulated sector or regulatory consulting (utilities preferred)
• Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks, price controls, and incentive regimes
• Experience supporting price reviews or revenue-setting processes
• Familiarity with assurance, audit, or governance concepts
• Understanding of benchmarking or performance measurement
• Strong analytical skills with data and evidence
• Excellent written communication for regulator- or board-facing documents
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration
