Overview

Lead GP role combines hands-on clinical work with senior site leadership to uphold high standards of care. You will guide the GP team, support colleagues, and drive quality improvements while maintaining clinical practice. This role offers influence without partnership risk and a structured framework backed by experienced operations. You’ll work across multiple sites in South East London, contributing to continuity, safety, and accessible care with strong governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and line-manage the GP team at your practice
  • Support newly qualified and transitioning GPs
  • Provide clinical leadership and escalation support to on-site clinicians
  • Act as the clinical safeguarding lead on site
  • Be a senior clinical presence for in-person patient complaints
  • Improve how clinical decisions affect demand and workload by reducing unnecessary follow-ups and improving first-time resolution
  • Reduce avoidable cancelled clinics due to absence or poor planning
  • Maintain clinical standards, behaviours, and reliability

Key requirements

  • Qualified GP with a minimum of 2 years post-CCT experience
  • GMC registered with a licence to practise
  • Registered on the NHS Performers List
  • Experience supporting or influencing other clinicians
  • Strong time management and prioritisation
  • Calm, credible, and professional
  • Collaborative and relationship-focused
  • Comfortable using EMIS and clinical systems
  • Understanding of clinical governance and audit
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check requirement
