Overview
As a Research Scientist in Oligonucleotide Chemistry, you will synthesize, optimize, and characterize therapeutic oligonucleotides, working hands-on with automated synthesizers. You will collaborate across discovery and development teams to advance RNA-based therapeutics toward patients. You’ll develop methods to improve performance and reproducibility while upholding high-quality lab practices. Responsibilities
- Perform solid-phase synthesis of oligonucleotides on automated DNA/RNA synthesizers
- Purify, desalt, and characterize oligos using chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Develop and optimize synthesis, purification, and analytical methods
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments for oligonucleotide production and analysis
- Prepare and maintain SOPs for consistent laboratory practices
- Document experimental results using electronic lab notebook systems
- Collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, cross-functional research environment
Key requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Chemistry or related discipline
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience in research settings
- Hands-on experience with automated solid-phase synthesizers and oligonucleotide workflows
- Proficiency in purification, characterization, and analysis of oligonucleotides via chromatography and MS
- Understanding of RNA therapeutics and their biological applications
- Strong collaboration, adaptability, and self-motivation in a scientific context
