Senior Site Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support delivery of Costain projects within the Northumbrian Water Framework, focusing on delivering upgrades and storm overflow works safely, on time, and within budget. You’ll work across the project lifecycle with design, delivery, and site teams, coordinating with supply chain and operational staff. The position offers impact across major water infrastructure initiatives and requires hands-on site leadership with a strong safety and quality mindset. This is an opportunity to shape practical, compliant delivery on high-value schemes.

Responsibilities

• Support site teams and production of project plans, RAMs, ITPs, and waste management
• Maintain robust site records (diaries, allocation sheets, etc)
• Ensure supply chain adherence to framework management plan
• Promote and uphold safety culture and zero LTI goals
• Maintain commercial focus and challenge project scope for efficient delivery
• Coordinate with Site/Senior Agent to secure competent resources
• Provide consistent reporting of SHE metrics, progress, cost, and change
• Identify and mitigate key project risks early
• Collaborate with client, framework, design, and supply chain partners
• Support development of construction strategies and programmes
• Assist with implementing project plans through to handover

Key requirements

• Project experience on contracts over 1m
• Experience on multidisciplinary projects
• Experience with MEICA interfaces and/or water environment beneficial
• Team player with collaborative behaviour
• Delivery of projects safely to quality, time and budget
• Familiarity with NEC contracts
• Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and across sites
• Computer competence (Microsoft tools, document control system, Primavera)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Degree level/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering
• SMSTS
• CSCS
• Driving licence
