Overview

As Principal Power Electronics Engineer, you will lead the design and development of advanced automotive power electronic units from concept to validation. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver high‑voltage systems and drive reliability and production readiness. The role blends hands-on hardware design with system-level thinking, enabling impactful projects in EV/HEV power electronics. Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of power electronic units and systems (analogue and digital circuits, interfaces, multicore controllers)
  • Develop hardware for automotive applications (inverters, on-board chargers, DC-DC converters, motor control)
  • Design gate drivers, low-voltage supplies, schematics, and PCB layouts
  • Use PLECS, LTspice, Simulink, and MATLAB for design development and verification
  • Lead prototype builds and support testing, integration and validation
  • Produce design verification docs and contribute to FMEA, reliability prediction, MTBF analysis
  • Lead engineering change control and ensure documentation aligns with standards
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams

Key requirements

  • Degree qualification in electronics engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in power electronics hardware design from concept to delivery
  • Strong knowledge of MOSFETs, IGBTs, GaN and SiC devices
  • Understanding of automotive design standards, the V-cycle, and systems engineering
  • Experience designing high-voltage and high-power electronic systems
  • Knowledge of functional safety hardware/software per ISO 26262 is desirable
  • Experience with electric/hybrid vehicle applications and power quality standards is advantageous
  • Strong communication, presentation, reporting, problem-solving and analytical skills, with leadership capability to guide work packages
