Overview

In this role you drive the end-to-end Accounts Payable function for SBFM. You will own high-volume invoice processing, PO workflow, and supplier communications, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You’ll partner with budget holders and internal teams to improve controls and efficiency, supporting growth with robust processes. This hands-on, independent role offers real ownership and the chance to shape AP practices within a values-driven, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process around 800 supplier invoices per month with accurate coding and timely posting
  • Own and manage purchase order workflows—raising, approving, and reconciling with invoices
  • Collaborate with budget holders to resolve PO/invoice discrepancies and enforce PO compliance
  • Serve as main AP point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, delays, and supplier queries
  • Maintain supplier relationships and reconciling supplier statements regularly
  • Prepare and execute monthly payment runs ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and submit payment practice reporting in line with statutory requirements
  • Monitor payment performance and drive improved compliance with terms
  • Set up new suppliers with verified bank details and key information
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Administer company credit cards and ensure policy compliance
  • Keep supplier records and AP ledger data accurate and up-to-date
  • Support month-end close with accruals and reconciliations
  • Identify opportunities to improve AP processes, controls, efficiency and automation

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as Accounts Payable Manager or senior AP
  • Experience managing high-volume invoice processing
  • Strong experience with PO workflows and payment runs
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organised
  • Ability to work independently in a busy, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues and improving processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (desirable)
