Lead DevOps Platforms Engineer

Overview

As a hands-on Lead DevOps Engineer, you will design, build and operate cloud-native platforms for enterprise clients. You’ll lead DevOps strategy, drive platform modernisation and enforce best practices across automation, security and observability. You’ll mentor engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver resilient, scalable services. This role sits in a fast-growing Cloud Operations team delivering high‑profile IT transformation projects. You will work across multi-cloud environments to enable secure, efficient delivery for clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate cloud-native platforms for enterprise environments
• Lead DevOps strategy and platform modernization initiatives
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reliable platforms
• Implement and manage IaC and automation across cloud environments
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and associated security controls
• Develop monitoring, logging and observability solutions
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery and multi-cloud/hybrid architectures
• Focus on cost optimisation and secure, scalable operations

Key requirements

• Experience designing, building and operating cloud-native platforms in Azure and/or AWS
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, networking, and IAM
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or Ansible
• Kubernetes and containerisation expertise
• CI/CD pipelines experience (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
• Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Go)
• Monitoring/logging/observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, ELK/EFK)
• Troubleshooting complex issues and disaster recovery design
• Multi-cloud/hybrid-cloud experience
• Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimisation
• DevSecOps implementation in pipelines
• Developer platform and self-service capability building
