API Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, build and maintain scalable API-backed software within cross-functional feature teams. You will drive full lifecycle development from requirements through deployment, delivering high-quality, secure and efficient solutions. You’ll collaborate with engineers, architects and analysts to optimize engineering capabilities and solve complex technical challenges. This position offers hands-on work with modern Java-based stacks and a chance to impact a broad platform in a hybrid, delivery-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Engineer software, scripts and tools within a feature team to deliver value
• Own full software lifecycle from development to maintenance or decommissioning
• Collaborate across engineering, architecture and business analysis to optimize capability
• Design, implement, test and deploy working software solutions
• Work through requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment and operations
• Contribute to cross-functional collaboration to improve engineering processes

Key requirements

• Background in software engineering and solution design
• Experience delivering scalable, reliable applications across the SDLC
• Collaborative, Agile team player
• Hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, Maven, DB2 and GitLab
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Understanding of microservices, scalability, resiliency, caching and performance optimization
• Java performance tuning and root cause analysis
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD, with experience in automation, production support and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Grafana
