Overview
As a Privacy Lawyer at Visa, you will shape privacy strategy for our products and services across Europe. You will provide expert legal guidance on GDPR, data protection, cyber and AI laws, and lead privacy assessments and data subject rights responses. You will collaborate with business partners to embed privacy into processes, policies, and training, and help drive the Global Privacy Program. This role offers meaningful impact by strengthening trust and compliance on a global payments platform, with opportunities to influence policy and regulatory change.
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject-matter expert on privacy for Visa products and services
- Provide legal advice on European privacy, data protection, cyber and AI laws including GDPR
- Provide guidance on privacy impact assessments
- Assist with data subject rights requests
- Stay updated on emerging privacy, cyber and AI laws and trends
- Build relationships with key business partners to deliver privacy legal support
- Assist in developing privacy policies, procedures, and training programs
- Draft and negotiate privacy-related contracts and agreements
- Identify opportunities to streamline privacy legal delivery, regulatory change management and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to the Global Privacy Program
- Issue spot privacy, data, AI and cyber issues and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Note: minimum 3 days in office as per Hiring Manager’s guidance
Key requirements
- Qualified lawyer in England and Wales with several years of PQE experience
- Experience as a privacy subject-matter expert
- Strong academic and training in legal drafting, negotiating, and relationship management
- Excellent written and oral communication; collaboration with stakeholders
- Analytical capabilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work in team and independently; prioritize and manage workload
- Positive attitude, integrity, curiosity, and passion for privacy issues
