Overview

In this role you will lead undergraduate supervision in small animal first opinion practice, guiding clinical teaching and practical training for BVMS students. You will coordinate planning and delivery of clinical supervision, assessments, and curriculum development within a renowned veterinary school. You contribute to the Pet Practice operations, clinical service, and scholarship to keep teaching evidence-based and research-informed. The position combines hands-on teaching with leadership in a busy, multi-disciplinary hospital environment, offering opportunities to shape veterinary education and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and deliver undergraduate clinical supervision in small animal first opinion practice
  • Supervise practical work and advise on surgical techniques and teaching methods
  • Deliver and assess student learning, provide timely feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development with a research-informed approach
  • Undertake administrative duties and lead initiatives to improve learning experience
  • Oversee quality assurance and programme re-accreditation activities
  • Prepare teaching materials for specialised courses as assigned
  • Collaborate on programme development through assessment feedback
  • Manage care delivery in small animal clinics with student supervision
  • Contribute to University Pet Practice activities (clinical service, teaching)
  • Engage in scholarship to stay current in discipline and teaching practice
  • Hold deputy responsibilities for Pet Practice operations

Key requirements

  • A1 Veterinary degree registered with the RCVS
  • B1 Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (desirable)
  • B2 Postgraduate professional development (desirable)
  • C1 Expertise in small animal first opinion practice with ability to advise various stakeholders
  • C2 Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • C3 Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
