Associate Director – Project Management

In this role you drive project delivery from inception to completion within Mace’s Cities and Places sector, collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams to meet quality and schedule targets. You will steer budgets, risks, and change, ensuring transparent governance and value delivery. You shape design and stakeholder coordination, upholding safety, inclusivity, and sustainability. Responsibilities

• Oversee project delivery from inception to handover, ensuring milestones and quality targets are met
• Direct and support the project management function, reporting to the client
• Manage budgets and change control to forecast and control costs
• Maintain live risk registers and lead regular reviews with the broader team
• Coordinate design teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure collaboration and service excellence
• Administer contracting activities for contractors and consultants per their contracts
• Promote inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation in project delivery
• Oversee budgeting, risk management and change processes, maintaining accurate plans and documentation

Key requirements

• Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE) or equivalent development
• Extensive public-sector project and programme delivery experience
• Strong commercial, financial and stakeholder management capability
• Extensive project delivery experience
• Proven experience in new build delivery
• Experience across new and existing infrastructure is desirable
