In this role you will lead high-quality research in automatic control and related areas, building an internationally recognised profile through publications and external funding. You will contribute to teaching and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a distinctive element of delivering modules at the Dalian Leicester Institute in China. You will collaborate with colleagues, industry partners and international institutions to advance the School’s research strengths and student experience. This is an international, collaborative position that values academic excellence, cross-cultural engagement and impact across academia and industry.

Responsibilities
- conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable venues
- attract external research funding and develop competitive grant applications
- collaborate with colleagues, industry partners and international institutions
- deliver teaching modules at the Dalian Leicester Institute in China for up to 25 weeks per academic year
- support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student projects and tutorials
- contribute to curriculum development and academic/administrative activities
- supervise student projects and engage with students and colleagues in Leicester and China
- travel and work overseas as required
Key requirements
- degree in engineering, science or mathematics
- PhD and post-doctoral research experience in a relevant discipline
- established record of publishing high-quality research
- ability to develop competitive research funding applications
- potential to contribute to School’s research strengths and international reputation
- academic teaching qualification or commitment to achieve HEA Fellowship
- ability to teach across aerospace and mechanical engineering
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- team-oriented, collaborative, and able to engage with colleagues and students in multiple locations
