Overview

As Aircraft Duty Engineer at Heathrow, you will lead the Engineering Production team within Process Excellence, ensuring planned maintenance is scheduled and delivered safely. You’ll coordinate resources, tooling and materials to maximise productivity and keep the fleet compliant. You will be the primary point of contact for engineers, flight crews and planning, providing technical support and facilitating rapid resolution of issues. This role combines hands-on engineering leadership with a focus on safety, efficiency and continuous improvement in a world-class airline.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the operation to defined production targets aligned with the maintenance plan
  • Provide effective leadership of maintenance colleagues and set clear expectations
  • Allocate tasks per the maintenance plan
  • Champion high-quality standards, monitor trends and drive permanent improvements
  • Communicate aircraft in-work status and coordinate between Planning and Production
  • Act as the point of contact for Engineers, flight crew and planning
  • Provide technical support as first point of contact for operational colleagues
  • Offer feedback to stakeholders and support engineers with complex issues
  • Engage frontline with engineers to rectify defects

Key requirements

  • CAA Part-66 B licence holder with demonstrable experience certifying in aircraft maintenance
  • Experience with commercial type ratings (BA type training available)
  • Current BA type rating desirable
  • Ability to interpret technical publications to inform decisions
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization and planning abilities
  • Ability to make timely, informed decisions in a complex operational environment
