Overview
As a Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant you will lead on-site delivery for a major linear infrastructure project in Suffolk while also contributing to broader geoenvironmental consultancy work from London or Cambridge. You will manage ground investigation activities, coordinate contractors, uphold HSSE standards, and maintain robust site documentation. The role blends hands-on site leadership with office-based proposal work during off-site periods, in a hybrid setup. This position offers a stretch of field responsibility with integration into the Energy and Resources team to shape project outcomes and drive safe, high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities
- provide day-to-day site management and coordination for ground investigation works on a major infrastructure project
- organise and coordinate investigation activities, manage contractors and subcontractors
- maintain programme, quality oversight, and act as Principal Contractor for defined work packages
- uphold HSSE standards and maintain accurate site diaries, progress records, and quality registers
- escalate technical, programme or safety matters as needed
- manage interfaces between work packages to ensure safe, efficient delivery
- during off-site periods, contribute to proposals, data interpretation, and technical reporting
- adhere to safe systems of work, risk assessments, permits, and incident reporting
- maintain accurate site records demonstrating effective management of complex works
- conduct communication with clients, contractors, landowners and multidisciplinary teams
Key requirements
- degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or related
- experience in geoenvironmental consultancy, ground investigation, contaminated land, engineering geology or ground engineering
- strong track record in arranging, planning and coordinating site works including mobilisation and logistics
- ability to monitor contractor performance against scope, programme, quality and HSSE
- experience undertaking Principal Contractor duties for defined work packages
- understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permits and incident reporting
- ability to maintain accurate, thorough site records
- clear communication with clients, contractors, landowners and project teams
- Chartered status or active progress towards it would be welcome
