Principal Process Engineer – Water Sector

Overview

In this role you will provide technical leadership across water and wastewater projects, guiding robust process solutions from concepts through construction support. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable, client-aligned designs and mentor engineers to strengthen the Process Engineering capability. Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of process engineering solutions for water and wastewater projects
• Develop, review and assure process designs, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and technical specifications
• Provide technical direction to project teams ensuring practical and sustainable outcomes
• Take a leading role from concept through detailed design and construction support
• Support asset optimisation, site investigations and technical testing as required
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and environmental specialists to deliver integrated solutions
• Build and maintain relationships with clients providing technical guidance and translating challenges into outcomes
• Contribute to investment programmes, bids and framework opportunities across the UK water sector
• Mentor and develop engineers to strengthen the wider Process Engineering team
• Champion innovation, best practice and continuous improvement in delivery

Key requirements

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or related discipline with significant experience in the water/wastewater/utilities sectors
• Strong technical experience across process design, calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment evaluations
• Proven leadership across complex multidisciplinary projects
• Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and UK industry requirements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance
• Ability to manage competing priorities for complex projects
