Overview

In this role you will lead UK HR and payroll operations within STRABAG’s central services, driving compliant and efficient people administration. You will manage a small HR/payroll team, shape policies, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align workforce practices with business strategy. You’ll tackle complex employment-law scenarios, ensure GDPR compliance, and implement systems and analytics to support decision-making. This is a senior, impact-focused leadership position with a clear path to elevate UK HR standards.

Responsibilities

  • Professional and disciplinary leadership and development of a 7-person team
  • Further development of the group’s HR and payroll specialists
  • Participate in special projects, procedures and guidelines to align the workforce with strategic goals
  • Lead the development, coordination and implementation of policies, procedures and processes
  • Support and coordinate Group Reporting, including country reporting
  • Review and interpret people data and manage complex employment law cases
  • Lead the development of standards for Employment Conditions compliant with laws and group strategy
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations; review and modify policies as needed to stay compliant
  • Analyze and advise on remuneration policies and employee benefits in line with the Group strategy
  • Pre-employment screening is required

Key requirements

  • Several years of professional and management experience in HR, personnel and payroll administration (preferable Construction Industry)
  • CIPD Qualification (minimum Level 7)
  • Strong leadership with social competence, diplomacy, and assertiveness
  • Ability to inspire, develop and retain people
  • Strong communication skills and empathy with employees, colleagues, managers and internal customers
  • Strong analytical and entrepreneurial thinking with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Employment legislation and GDPR (mandatory)
  • Knowledge of UK Payroll and Tax legislation (desired)
  • Knowledge of Payroll/HR Software Solutions (preferable MHR iTrent) and high IT affinity; experience implementing software solutions
  • Working knowledge with Business Analytics & Process Solutions
