Overview

In this role you will own the execution of trade compliance for cross-border shipments, shaping how we classify goods and navigate regulatory rules. You’ll work closely with Legal, Fulfillment, and Ops to implement a scalable compliance operating rhythm as Nivoda grows internationally. You’ll optimize duties, manage broker performance, and drive cost-saving opportunities across US, UK, EU imports/exports. This is a high-ownership, individual contributor role at a fast-growing, remote-friendly company.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare shipment documentation and commercial invoices, ensuring complete, centralized records
  • Apply HTS classifications and country-of-origin determinations approved by Legal & Compliance
  • Manage day-to-day customs broker relationships and monitor performance
  • Monitor duties as part of landed costs, file claims for errors with brokers
  • Resolve routine customs queries and ensure accurate declarations for import/export
  • Own the duty drawback program and coordinate with Livingstone to prepare and validate claims
  • Monitor the US import bond to ensure business continuity
  • Coordinate with manufacturers (starting with India) on export documentation for compliant, efficient shipping
  • Identify duty-saving opportunities via relevant free trade agreements
  • Build out trade compliance processes as the jewellery business scales to new markets
  • Escalate complex classification or legal interpretation to Legal & Compliance

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in global trade compliance or customs operations with US/UK/EU import/export
  • Extensive US import-export experience
  • Direct experience managing customs broker relationships and shipment documentation at volume
  • Experience filing duty drawback or tariff reclaim claims
  • Autonomy as an individual contributor
  • EU or UK base with ability to work across time zones
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across external brokers/carriers and internal teams
