Overview
In this role you lead the production engineering efforts to create and refine manufacturing processes, supporting on-time delivery and cross-functional collaboration. You drive process improvements, mentor the team, and ensure design-for-manufacturing alignment with quality and safety standards. You will engage with design and sub-contract teams to optimize machining and tooling, leveraging CAD/CAM capabilities and governing CAPEX initiatives. Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement within the production engineering team
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers
- Collaborate with Design Engineering on DFM and process planning
- Provide production support and resolve manufacturing issues
- Support Sub-Contract team with technical liaison
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies
- Maintain quality and implement processes per company standards
- Identify and manage CAPEX opportunities, oversee commissioning and FAT
- Produce and maintain BoM and routings, exploit ERP/MRP capabilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerance requirements
- Design work holding fixtures and apply modern machining methods
- Operate within tight deadlines and flexible work hours as needed
Key requirements
- Experience in a busy production office environment
- Background with super alloys, castings and composites
- Machinist apprenticeship background or equivalent
- Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances
- Strong tooling knowledge and modern machining methods
- Fixture/work holding design experience
- Expertise in CAD (Solid Edge or similar)
- Understanding of CNC code and offline programming (advantage)
- CAPEX identification, proposal creation, commissioning and FAT oversight
- Microsoft literacy; SAP/ERP/MRP experience an advantage
- BoM and routings creation
- Health and safety awareness
- 10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing
- Six Sigma/CI experience
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams
