Overview
In this role you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Respiratory SDEC service and help coordinate patient pathways. You’ll work with clinicians, patients and other care teams to ensure timely, high-quality care closer to home. Your proactive organisation and IT skills will enable efficient referrals, bookings and records management in a dynamic community setting. This is a busy role that values accuracy, professionalism and calm under pressure, contributing to service improvements.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Respiratory SDEC service
- Process referrals and support clinical triage to ensure timely patient management
- Coordinate clinic bookings, appointments and patient pathways
- Act as a point of contact for patients, clinicians, GP practices and external organisations
- Manage telephone enquiries, relay messages accurately and escalate urgent information
- Monitor and manage shared email inboxes and direct enquiries
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to Trust policies and NHS standards
- Establish and maintain efficient administrative processes to support service delivery
- Liaise with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to progress patient care
- Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and follow up actions
- Manage incoming/outgoing correspondence and distribute letters
- Produce reports and support service improvement initiatives
- Prioritise workloads independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality
Key requirements
- Experience of dealing with the public / customer service
- Experience using a range of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems
