Piling Site Engineer / Estimator

Overview

In this role you will drive pre-construction bids for the Northern Business Unit, coordinating tender delivery and client engagement to secure opportunities. You will translate project needs into innovative, compliant proposals while aligning with company strategy. Expect cross-functional collaboration with design, operations and commercial teams to mitigate risks and optimise resources. This is an opportunity to move into estimating, shaping outcomes for ground engineering projects and building lasting client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the bid process to deliver timely, client-focused tender responses.
• Review tender documents and requirements to ensure all information is captured.
• Develop innovative solutions and coordinate with design/operations as needed.
• Select appropriate methods, outputs and plant/resources with risk mitigation.
• Prepare tender price schedules and cost plans in line with strategy and risk assessments.
• Maintain effective communication with customers during and after the bid.
• Respond to post-tender questions and attend meetings with a professional image.
• Ensure smooth handover of bid documentation to operation and commercial teams.
• Manage customer contact, present proposals, and contribute to client meetings.
• Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels.

Key requirements

• Proven experience and solid technical knowledge of ground engineering processes.
• Preferably Degree qualified.
• Knowledge of the UK piling and geotechnical market.
• Good communication, team player, able to work under time pressure.
• Computer literate with major Microsoft Office programmes.
• Customer-centric mindset with opportunity recognition in tender invitations.
• Desire to pursue innovation and development focused on customers and ground engineering.
• CSCS card preferable.
• No previous estimating experience required.
