Senior Manager, AI/ML Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Manager in SAIL, you lead end-to-end AI and technology engagements, shaping opportunities and guiding delivery. You combine deep AI/ML or platform/engineering expertise with leadership to deliver real value for clients. You will operate at the intersection of advisory, architecture, and hands-on delivery, driving production-scale AI deployments and governance. This role offers impact across industries through AI-enabled platforms and cloud solutions, in a collaborative, client-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead end-to-end delivery of complex AI and technology consulting engagements, including scope, quality, risk and outcomes.
• Lead and resource multi-disciplinary delivery teams (engineers, data scientists, consultants) with clear direction and technical oversight.
• Manage engagement resourcing, forecast requirements, staff engagements, and mentor junior practitioners.
• Identify and manage delivery risks in complex stakeholder environments, maintaining client confidence.
• Communicate complex topics clearly to technical teams and senior stakeholders, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
• Conduct rigorous technical reviews and uphold engineering/delivery standards across engagements.
• Play a leading role in business development, shaping propositions and leading bids for AI/technology engagements.
• Contribute to proposal writing, including technical and delivery sections for tenders and RFPs.
• Build and maintain client relationships as a trusted advisor and pursue follow-on opportunities.
• Support practice growth initiatives (account planning, capability development, go-to-market positioning).
• Lead architecture design for AI-enabled platforms and cloud solutions with a balance of technical excellence and pragmatic delivery.
• Provide hands-on technical direction as needed, reviewing designs, code, and artefacts to maintain quality.
• Drive production-grade AI deployments from prototype to scalable production with measurable business impact.
• Engage with client architects, CTOs and engineering leads to represent Baringa’s expertise.
• Specialist focus in at least one domain (Agentic AI/LLM, Machine Learning Engineering, Platform & Cloud Engineering, or Software Engineering) with cross-domain knowledge.

Key requirements

• 7+ years in technology consulting, software engineering, or AI/ML
• at least 3 years in a senior leadership role with end-to-end delivery accountability
• experience supporting or leading bid/proposal activity and writing technical/delivery sections
• SME-level depth in at least one AI/ML/engineering domain with strong architecture across cloud, data and AI
• proven ability to build and lead high-performing delivery teams in complex environments
• clear, confident communicator able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or related discipline (or equivalent certifications)
• desirable: experience as forward-deployed/embedded engineer in client environments; exposure to regulated industries (energy, financial services, public sector)
