Head of Derivative Services & Oversight

Overview

You lead the Derivative Services & Oversight Team to ensure effective management and control of derivative operations across asset classes. You align the team with company goals, oversee external resource partners, and provide assurance on process accuracy and risk controls. You will drive daily operations, issue resolution, and control testing while guiding continuous improvements and automation. This role offers impact through strengthening operational resilience and partnering with business and legal teams to meet regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Derivative Services & Oversight team and resource partners
• Set goals and vision in line with company objectives and ensure partner/client needs are met
• Oversee daily operational activities by resource partners (trade capture, confirmation, settlement, collateral management)
• Handle escalations and monitor lifecycle events for accuracy and timeliness
• Process bespoke and complex trades/events; agree confirmation templates with Investment and Legal
• Validate valuation, margin, and collateral processes in line with internal/regulatory requirements
• Review exception reports and escalate issues promptly
• Maintain robust controls to mitigate derivatives risk; conduct control testing and risk assessments
• Monitor KPIs/SLAs with outsourced providers; participate in incident management and remediation tracking
• Ensure timely error reporting and proper recording in systems; oversee OTC reconciliations
• Contribute to continuous process improvement and automation initiatives

Key requirements

• Strong understanding of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives (swaps, options, forwards, repo, futures)
• Knowledge of end-to-end derivative trade lifecycle and operational processes
• Familiarity with collateral management, margining, and valuation methodologies
• Awareness of regulations impacting derivatives (EMIR, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II)
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills for complex operational issues
• Risk-aware mindset with experience in control frameworks and operational risk management
• Ability to interpret data, reconcile discrepancies, and identify process gaps
• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Highly organized with attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deliverables
• Proficiency with systems such as MarkitWire, DTCC, TriResolve; knowledge of Aladdin Recs/Deco modules
