Overview
In this role you will steer Wise’s European banking partnerships and access to payment schemes to power faster, cheaper cross-border payments. You will work across Strategy, Product, and Operations to expand rails and optimize money movement. You’ll lead direct scheme and central-bank connectivity, negotiate terms, and ensure compliant, scalable onboarding. This is a high-impact role building global payments infrastructure with cross-functional teams. You’ll join a mission-driven, diverse team working to move money without borders.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic bank partner relationships and direct access to European payment schemes and central banks
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and SLAs to reduce costs, speed up transactions, and improve visibility
- Own end-to-end connectivity process to payment schemes and central bank infrastructure across Europe; manage integration milestones and liquidity strategy
- Lead end-to-end deal onboarding: pitches, contracts, account openings, due diligence, cross-functional coordination
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, and Compliance to translate payment mechanics into features and roadmaps
- Oversee regulatory compliance and operations coaching: KYC, due diligence, regulatory reporting; automate payment exceptions and scale processing
Key requirements
- Deep domain expertise in transaction banking, cash management, FIG, or payment infrastructure at a bank, PSP, or fintech
- Strong relationship-building skills with executive stakeholders
- Data-driven, metrics-oriented mindset for monitoring performance and optimizing economics
- Detail-oriented approach to contracts, compliance reviews, and onboarding blockers
- Ability to bridge bank requirements with technical execution across cross-functional teams
