Commodity Manager – CAPEX

Overview

As Commodity Manager for Capital Expenditure, you own a defined indirect spend portfolio and shape category strategies that align with business objectives. You will lead multi-site sourcing, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost savings and supply security. The role sits at the intersection of operations, engineering, finance, and leadership, influencing major CAPEX decisions and procurement governance. You’ll advance supplier performance, reduce risk, and support a resilient, cost-efficient supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Own defined portfolio of indirect spend including CAPEX, transport and packaging
• Develop and implement category strategies that deliver value and security of supply
• Lead multi-site sourcing, negotiations, and contract management
• Analyse market dynamics, cost drivers and risks to inform sourcing decisions
• Build and manage strategic supplier relationships and performance management
• Identify opportunities to reduce supplier dependency and strengthen resilience
• Report to senior stakeholders and ensure governance compliance
• Drive cost savings, cost avoidance, and contract coverage improvements

Key requirements

• Proven category or commodity management experience in manufacturing
• Strong track record in commercial negotiation and contract management
• Experience managing multi-site spend and complex supply chains
• Commercial acumen with ability to analyse market trends and cost drivers
• Understanding of procurement and supply chain principles, contract law and supplier frameworks
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior decision-makers
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems (advantageous)
• Willingness to travel across UK and international sites
