Pway Design Engineer – Rail

Overview

In this role you lead engineering assurance and asset management activities within the railway P-way domain, providing professional advisory and assurance services to Operations Directors. You support strategic growth for Rail P-way Solutions and manage cross‑functional projects with partners and customers. You will develop senior relationships with safety and technical managers across key industry bodies and ensure resource deployment across the business. You help enhance asset capability and performance for both the company and its customers, shaping industry outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional engineering assurance services and technical audits for P-way engineering
• Offer strategic support to Rail P-way Solutions to drive business growth
• Manage development projects and liaise with partners, suppliers, and customers on asset management
• Leverage technical and assurance capabilities to improve performance across the business and industries served
• Build relationships with senior Safety Assurance and Technical Managers in customers and industry bodies
• Monitor UK and international developments affecting asset capability and economics
• Oversee deployment of resources, including recruitment, training, and development
• Direct responsibility for three Chief Engineers and safety/compliance oversight for track engineers teams

Key requirements

• Chartered Engineer and member of a relevant professional engineering institution
• Degree in engineering or scientific discipline
• Strong understanding of railway industry structure and dynamics
• Financial and commercial awareness with practical experience
• Extensive railway engineering management experience or Safety Case–driven industry experience
• Proven engineering management experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
