Site Engineer

Overview

In this contract Site Engineer role, you will lead setting-out and on-site execution for a rail project, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You’ll support drainage and earthworks initially, with later phases including landscaping and planting, aligning with project milestones. You will work closely with the on-site team to hit tight timelines and maintain safety and quality. This contract offers a hands-on, site-focused environment with potential extension based on project needs. A strong on-site delivery mindset and proficiency with surveying and civil design tools will help you excel from day one.

Responsibilities

• Lead setting-out and on-site verification to support drainage and earthworks
• Manage on-site operations and coordinate with subcontractors and the project team
• Raise Permits to Excavate and ensure compliance on site
• Operate or supervise use of Trimble GPS and Total Stations for survey controls
• Utilise AutoCAD / Civil 3D for on-site interpretation and record-keeping
• Support later phases including drainage, landscape clearance and planting
• Identify and address on-site issues promptly to keep the project on schedule

Key requirements

• Strong setting-out engineering experience
• Proficient with Trimble GPS and Total Stations
• Experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D
• Knowledge of machine control preferred
• Ability to raise Permits to Excavate
• Valid EUSR Level 1 ticket
• Valid CSCS card
• Valid Highways Passport
• Able to work independently and confidently on site
• Available to start ASAP
