Overview
As a Project Engineer in HS2’s Depots Engineering team, you will support the Calvert Infrastructure Maintenance Depot project from design through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. You’ll gain exposure across civil, mechanical, electrical and rail disciplines, working closely with design and site delivery teams to drive delivery quality. This role offers cradle-to-grave exposure on a major rail facility and a path toward chartership. A hands-on, cross-disciplinary problem-solver will thrive here, shaping a key operational base for track and infrastructure maintenance.

Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the Calvert Depot project from design through to handover
- Act as a liaison between HS2 and design/construction teams
- Review and interpret technical information across disciplines
- Coordinate technical support and raise RFIs or engineering queries as needed
- Engage with designers, contractors and site delivery teams to ensure compliance and quality
- Develop as a multidisciplinary Project Engineer under the Lead Project Engineer
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and issues
- Contribute to professional development toward chartership
Key requirements
- 2–3 years of relevant engineering experience
- Background in civil, mechanical, electrical, buildings or railway engineering
- Experience on multidisciplinary engineering, construction or infrastructure projects
- Ability to review and understand technical information
- Good problem-solving skills and cross-disciplinary flexibility
- Experience interacting with designers, contractors or site teams
- A relevant engineering qualification
- Genuine interest in broadening technical experience and progressing toward Project Engineer role
