Overview
As a Design Engineer at RSE, you will lead projects from scoping through implementation, ensuring compliance with client specs and regulatory standards while emphasising low-carbon solutions. You’ll work within the in-house Design team on a variety of water and utility projects, collaborating across stakeholders to translate technical requirements into robust designs. You’ll tackle challenging engineering problems, drive high-quality deliverables on time, and help shape sustainable water treatment solutions. Responsibilities
- Perform engineering checks using RFEM, Idea Statica, Nastran and Mathcad
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders across the business
- Produce preliminary and detailed designs via 3D modelling
- Compile engineering calculation reports
- Conduct site visits at Water Treatment Works, Power Stations and industrial sites
- Compile design specifications
- Comply with quality assurance procedures
- Deliver required outputs within project timescales
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering
- Working knowledge of design codes and standards (BS and Eurocodes)
- Analyses of structures for stress/deflection via hand calculations and FEA
- Knowledge of piping systems (advantageous)
- Proficient with IT packages and systems
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
