Overview

In this Contracts Manager role, you will lead the delivery of allocated construction projects from pre-construction through handover. You’ll work closely with clients, subcontractors and site teams to keep programmes on track, uphold quality and safety, and protect project margins. The position focuses on proactive problem-solving, strong relationship management and driving efficient project execution. This is a hands-on, fast-paced opportunity to shape outcomes on multiple live projects within a growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring on-schedule delivery
  • Develop and maintain project programmes with key milestones
  • Coordinate labour, subcontractors, materials and equipment to stay on programme
  • Attend pre-start, progress and completion meetings and communicate with clients
  • Foster strong client and representative relationships
  • Monitor progress and proactively resolve issues impacting programme, quality, safety or cost
  • Obtain competitive subcontractor quotes and oversee performance
  • Control project costs, variations and additional works
  • Maintain records and report commercial and programme issues to Senior Contracts Manager
  • Protect and improve project profit margins through resource and cost management
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and legislation
  • Maintain required safety plans and documentation (RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, etc.)
  • Conduct site audits and close out actions
  • Maintain focus on quality and zero-defect handover
  • Support site teams and collaborate across the business
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity
  • Identify and manage risks through pre-construction to construction phases
  • Provide support to other Contracts Managers and cover Site Manager when needed

Key requirements

  • Experience as Contracts Manager or similar project management role
  • Experience in construction, fit-out or shopfitting environments
  • Strong knowledge of project programming and delivery
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
  • Good commercial awareness and cost/margin control
  • Solid understanding of health and safety requirements and construction legislation
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and managing project documentation
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Proactive problem-solving and proactive approach to solutions
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a wider team
