Construction Estimator

Overview

In this role, you will prepare accurate, competitive tenders to support major construction projects. Based in Sunderland with hybrid options, you will work within the Preconstruction Team to shape bids and drive value through robust pricing and risk assessment. You’ll collaborate with commercial and delivery colleagues to align estimates with project goals and tender governance. This is an environment focused on high-quality outcomes, innovation, and delivering large-scale, complex facilities.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed, competitive tenders aligned with company procedures and submission requirements
• Follow estimating governance through to tender settlement
• Develop schedules of rates and Bills of Quantities with the commercial team
• Analyse tender documentation for pricing accuracy and risk
• Create tender summaries for internal review and decision-making
• Participate in pre-price, price and tender adjudication meetings
• Prepare for settlement meetings covering risk registers, preliminaries, and labour rates
• Support value engineering and cost efficiency initiatives
• Collaborate with internal teams to align estimating, commercial and delivery functions

Key requirements

• Proven experience in estimating within the construction sector
• Strong understanding of tendering processes, cost planning and commercial principles
• Experience producing Bills of Quantities and schedules of rates
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
