Overview

As a Business Development Manager for the Central Government, you will originate and close complex, large-scale consulting deals around digital transformation with Microsoft-based solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and key partners to shape opportunities, negotiate agreements, and win business in a regulated government context. You’ll build long-term relationships with senior decision-makers and drive growth by translating client needs into compelling Avanade solutions. This role offers exposure to a broad ecosystem and the chance to influence how public sector clients modernize and simplify operations.

Responsibilities

  • Origin and qualify opportunities in assigned accounts/territories and shape deals for Avanade offerings
  • Collaborate with partners (Microsoft, Accenture, ecosystem partners) to grow the book of business
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior client decision-makers and influencers
  • Develop and execute relationship management plans to optimize new or existing accounts
  • Lead cross-functional internal teams to configure bespoke solutions meeting client needs
  • Negotiate client agreements and articulate a differentiated value proposition
  • Act as client champion within cross-functional teams to meet client requirements
  • Contribute to account strategies and leverage market intelligence to sharpen Avanade’s position
  • Represent Avanade at industry events and engage in thought leadership
  • Operate as a player-coach, delivering outcomes as an individual contributor

Key requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in sales or business development, with a track record of deals over $1M and quotas over $5M
  • Experience selling large-scale consulting engagements in a global delivery context
  • Direct selling experience in the Central Government or public sector and familiarity with Microsoft-based solutions
  • Strong ability to manage complex stakeholder networks and buying processes
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and close deals in a matrix environment
