Systems Engineer- Hedge Fund

Overview

In this role you will support a high-profile quant hedge fund by maintaining Linux systems, storage, and network infrastructure. You will work within a fast-paced development team, shaping the architecture with open source technology and automation. You’ll tackle diverse projects from high-availability clusters to bespoke container tooling, driving security and best practices. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Linux servers, desktops, VMs, containers, databases, and Windows hosts
• Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls)
• Design topology for large-scale storage using ZFS, Ceph, NVMe
• Contribute to open source-driven projects (e.g., HA VM cluster and custom container tool)
• Advance configuration management and automation of routine tasks
• Monitor and enhance the monitoring platform; respond to alerts
• Implement and uphold system and network security
• Promote best practices and evaluate open source solutions to improve performance
• Evangelise and prototype new technologies to shape architecture

Key requirements

• Strong Linux experience, preferably Ubuntu or Debian-based
• Scripting in Shell, Python or Ruby
• Experience with configuration management (Puppet or Salt)
• Interest in DevOps and automation
• London-based or able to relocate (implied by client base)
