Overview
As Climate and Operations Manager, you will drive Burberry’s Climate Transition Plan and environmental targets across operations, collaborating with internal teams and external partners. You’ll own energy data, renewable energy procurement, and ESG disclosures, shaping risk management and decarbonisation initiatives. This role blends strategic policy, data analytics, and cross-functional influence to advance sustainable luxury. You will work with diverse stakeholders to turn climate commitments into measurable results.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and development of Scope 1 and 2 Science Based Targets and renewable energy commitments, including procurement and retirement of renewable energy certificates globally
- Support broader environmental targets and policies through targeted projects (e.g., Internal Carbon Price, business travel impacts)
- Collect and analyze global energy, waste, and water data quarterly with data provider network
- Ensure compliance with energy-related reporting regulations (SECR, UK ESOS, EU EED)
- Identify and assess site-level physical climate risks to inform risk management and reporting
- Integrate energy and GHG emissions data with data management platforms
- Prepare broader ESG disclosures (CDP, TCFD, sustainability section of annual report)
- Engage with external stakeholders (industry groups, consultancies, NGOs) to monitor decarbonisation efforts
Key requirements
- Strong knowledge of climate and energy reporting frameworks and disclosure requirements (SECR, ESOS, GHG Protocol)
- Proven track record delivering decarbonisation, renewable energy, or environmental improvement programmes with measurable outcomes
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration with ability to influence stakeholders across functions
- Commercially minded sustainability professional balancing environmental goals with business priorities
- Experience with site-level energy, water, and/or waste auditing (desirable)
- Experience with LEED, BREEAM, ISO50001 and/or ISO14001 (desirable)
- Knowledge of carbon pricing mechanisms and the voluntary carbon market (desirable)
