Senior Principal / Associate Director – Civil Engineer (Water)

In this Principal/Associate Director Civil Engineer role, you lead delivery of water-related civil projects within WSP’s Regulated Water Asset Design team. You’ll steer multi-disciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and build client relationships to ensure outcomes and satisfaction. You’ll drive innovation, contribute to future-ready and net-zero initiatives, and mentor the next generation of engineers. Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project delivery across safety, technical quality, schedule and budget
• Lead multi-disciplinary design teams
• Shape service delivery and identify opportunities to provide broader WSP services
• Build and maintain client relationships to ensure project success and satisfaction
• Drive innovative approaches, new services and digital products
• Contribute to Future Ready and Net Zero programmes
• Act as an ambassador for best practice within the team and client initiatives
• Undertake bid preparation, resource and budget planning
• Line manage and mentor graduates and apprentices
• Support recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team
• Continue developing technical, managerial and leadership skills

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering
• Chartered status, or significant progression toward ICE or CIWEM
• Experience managing engineering design teams across civil and supporting disciplines
• Experience delivering projects within identified budget and schedule
• Experience in checking/technical approval on linear civil infrastructure projects or industrial/process design
• Experience mentoring junior civil engineers
• Client-facing experience
