Overview
In this Senior Civil Engineer role, you will lead the design and delivery of rail engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle within Arcadis’ Rail South, West & Wales portfolio. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to meet safety, quality and client requirements, developing practical designs and supporting informed decisions. You’ll mentor less experienced colleagues and promote continuous improvement and a safe, inclusive culture. This is a chance to shape sustainable rail infrastructure and contribute to a global engineering mission.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to design and delivery of rail projects meeting safety, quality, and client requirements
- Develop practical engineering solutions across feasibility, design, and implementation stages
- Support planning and execution of project activities within multidisciplinary teams
- Prepare and review technical designs, reports, drawings, and specifications per standards
- Provide technical input to clients and stakeholders for decision-making
- Collaborate to ensure high-quality, timely project outputs
- Promote safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement across activities
- Share knowledge and support development of less experienced team members
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience in civil engineering design within the railway environment and knowledge of rail standards
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation and reports
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proactive and adaptable approach with commitment to CPD
- Working towards or holding Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with ICE or IStructE (desirable)
