Overview
You will lead on-site engineering for a high-volume laundry facility, owning all breakdowns, maintenance, and safety compliance. In this fast-paced role, you coordinate with Laundry Production and Operations teams to maintain equipment uptime and protect service delivery. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control faults, driving preventative maintenance and permanent fixes. You’ll hand over clear shift communications and uphold health and safety standards, making a meaningful impact on reliability and safety.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main engineering point of contact for the Laundry Production and Operations teams, owning breakdowns and maintenance
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems on commercial laundry machinery
- Deliver the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, conduct root-cause investigations, implement permanent fixes
- Provide thorough shift handovers and track asset uptime using CMMS/PPM systems
- Ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and lock-off/isolation procedures
Key requirements
- Time-served engineer with strong multi-skilled mechanical or electrical background
- Proven diagnostics capability across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems
- Experience in fast-paced production environments (laundry, FMCG, distribution)
- Independent problem solver with ability to manage competing priorities on the factory floor
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reports and handovers
