Overview

In this role you will commission large UPS systems for Eaton’s UK customers, ensuring performance and safety standards. You will support hyperscale data centres with expert commissioning, testing and system configuration, and interact with stakeholders to ensure reliable power solutions. The role involves on-site testing, remote monitoring setup, and adherence to safety and ECN repair processes. This position offers international exposure and opportunities for technical growth.

Responsibilities

  • Commission large UPS systems and verify performance
  • Understand online and line-interactive UPS configurations
  • Develop and execute commissioning scripts
  • Perform site acceptance testing at customer locations
  • Utilize power quality meters and analyze results
  • Apply thermography for diagnostics and reporting
  • Manage battery systems (VRLA and Lithium-ion) experience
  • Set up and configure remote monitoring software
  • Communicate technical details with key stakeholders
  • Enforce anti-static policies and ECN procedures on repairs

Key requirements

  • Three phase electrical installation or maintenance knowledge
  • Good understanding of UPS systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, OPC, DDE, TCP/IP
  • Experience in programming PLC control systems (power control, generator control, SCADA or process control)
  • Educated to HNC or higher in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Effective communication with stakeholders
  • Attention to safety and quality
