Overview

In this role you will provide technical leadership for process design within the @one Alliance, delivering safe, compliant and high-quality hydraulic designs for Anglian Water projects. You will steer design work across the team, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with standards while mentoring junior engineers. The role emphasizes sustainability, digital innovation, and strong cross-functional collaboration in a high-impact water infrastructure program. This is a chance to shape major assets during AMP8 and work within a forward-thinking alliance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the process design workflow to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Review mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, and related design docs for accuracy and compliance
  • Address construction design queries and change requests to preserve design integrity
  • Support Project Design Managers with planning and stakeholder engagement for process design acceptance
  • Provide technical input for supplier contracts and deliverables
  • Champion health, safety, and welfare; ensure compliance with process standards and DSEAR
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers; promote best practices
  • Leverage innovation and digital technologies to drive continuous improvement and reduce carbon impact in design
  • Engage in wider Anglian Water initiatives such as HAZOPs, technical standards forums, and emergency response activities

Key requirements

  • Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or Process) or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership
  • Extensive water sector experience with process design and capital delivery projects
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and environmental requirements
  • Proven track record in mentoring and developing junior engineers
  • Experience in a Design & Build environment is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities with a collaborative approach
