Head of Operational Finance

Overview

In this role you will lead Commercial Finance to shape the organisation’s financial strategy and sustain long-term viability. You will work with senior leadership to steer budgeting, forecasting, risk, and performance across complex projects. You will build strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the national security mission. This is an influencing, high-visibility position that combines technical accounting excellence with strategic leadership. Responsibilities

• Lead and implement a cohesive financial strategy with the COOs and Executive Board to drive long-term sustainability
• Refine budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure best-in-class approaches
• Manage and develop a team of finance professionals and coordinate with senior finance partners
• Ensure risk management, compliance, and planning underpin financial delivery across business areas
• Develop internal business relationships at senior levels and influence strategic decisions
• Negotiate and build strategic partnerships with external and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to wider business strategy and corporate plan through financial leadership
• Support and challenge operational directors to meet financial targets

Key requirements

• Qualified chartered accountant or demonstrable equivalent QBE
• Experience leading a finance function in a large, complex organisation
• Ability to engage and influence at Executive Board level
• Strong IT literacy with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric attitude
• Technical knowledge of accounting principles, systems and procedures
• Experience building internal business relationships at a senior level
