Process Engineer

Overview

As a Process Engineer at Mott MacDonald Bentley, you will shape water and wastewater projects that support communities. You will lead process design work, ensure compliance with standards, and drive innovative, sustainable solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across the design, construction and commissioning lifecycle to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. Responsibilities

• Prepare and review scheme designs to ensure fitness for purpose and compliance with legislation
• Lead development of process design deliverables (process models, mass balances, control philosophies)
• Analyse site performance, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies
• Challenge process selections to maximise value for clients
• Identify opportunities for innovation addressing whole-life cost and net-zero goals
• Produce and review technical specifications and procurement documents
• Apply and contribute to design standards and client/industry standards
• Question and defend complex client specifications
• Improve delivery processes with standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools
• Act as technical checker and review project documentation across teams
• Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and produce integrated documentation
• Collaborate with engineers, specialists, clients and project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
• Supervise and mentor Graduates and Engineers
• Engage with clients and adopt a one-team approach to achieving objectives
• Conduct site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems

Key requirements

• Chemical Engineering or relevant Process Engineering degree
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE, IMechE, etc) or equivalent experience
• Experience with water and/or wastewater unit processes and wastewater project design
• Experience with HAZOP studies would be advantageous
