Civil Engineer – Water

Overview

In this role you will join Stantec’s Water Team in Scotland to contribute to the delivery of wastewater and water asset projects for Scottish Water and other clients. You will work across the project lifecycle, from concept through detailed design, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide engineering design and support. You will mentor junior engineers and engage directly with clients to shape innovative, sustainable solutions. The role aligns with Stantec’s net-zero ambitions and offers exposure to high-impact projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end engineering design for wastewater, sewerage, treated water storage, transmission mains, and treatment facilities
• Support Sustainable Urban Drainage and surface water management initiatives
• Provide ongoing design and technical input during detailed design and delivery stages
• Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team
• Lead or participate in client engagement and collaboration on project deliverables
• Support cross-project work for Scottish Water and other regional clients
• Work within a fast-paced, collaborative project environment
• Help align projects with the client’s net-zero and environmental targets

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Working toward Chartered status (ICE or CIWEM)
• Experience in the Water sector, especially wastewater infrastructure
• Experience with sewer flooding, pollution projects, and SUDS/Surface Water Management
• Client-facing experience and ability to lead client engagement
