Overview
In this role you will support the UK water policy portfolio by delivering rigorous evaluations and evidence-based insights that shape policy and practice. You join a cross-disciplinary European Policy, Research, Evaluation and Strategy unit, collaborating with public sector clients to improve water resources, flood risk management and related governance. You will tackle complex analyses, contribute to governance and investment appraisals, and help scale policy impact through robust research and stakeholder engagement. This is a mission-driven opportunity to influence water policy across the UK.

Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations of flood risk management programmes and water-related policy initiatives
- Study governance models for water resource management
- Appraise investments and finance mechanisms for nature recovery in water contexts
- Contribute to evaluations of water-focused innovation programmes
- Support policy-makers with robust evidence and strategic recommendations
- Manage projects, including budgets and research teams; contribute to proposals and business development
Key requirements
- Demonstrable interest and experience in UK water policy (water resources, floods, water quality)
- Strong qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills
- Experience in evaluation, economic analysis, impact assessment, data science and/or environmental economics
- Solid understanding of the UK policy‑making process; government assignments advantageous
- Degree, Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant professional experience
- Project management experience including budgets and team leadership
- Business development experience, including contributing to proposals or grants
- Excellent written and spoken English; strong communication skills
- Strong organisational and collaborative working skills
- Highly-developed interpersonal skills and self-motivation
- Prior consulting experience advantageous; academia/government/non-governmental backgrounds welcomed
