Overview

As a Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer in Arup’s Aviation team, you will lead electrical design and coordination for aviation and MRO facilities, guiding multi-disciplinary projects from feasibility to handover. You’ll mentor junior engineers, engage clients, and shape sustainable, net-zero outcomes across complex hangar environments. Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and coordination for aviation and MRO facility projects
  • Manage projects across feasibility, concept, detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications and drawings for electrical systems in MRO hangars
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Support business development through technical input and client engagement
  • Apply knowledge of aviation electrical systems (400Hz, power supply for equipment) and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee adherence to codes, standards, and safety requirements (DSEAR, ATEX zones, fire suppression)
  • Drive project delivery with effective team management and delegation
  • Contribute to digital transformation and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Electrical / Building Services Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status (IET or CIBSE)
  • Experience in Aviation sector, especially MRO facility design
  • Proven track record of winning and delivering projects
  • Ability to provide technical leadership of multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Strong awareness of sector-specific legislation and design guidance
  • Knowledge of sustainable building design, energy and carbon considerations
