Reliability Engineer

Overview

As an Automation Engineer, you will be the site SME for controls systems, maintenance engineering, sensors, PLCs, and automation across the site. You will collaborate with facilities and maintenance to sustain uptime and improve reliability of automation, conveyance, and facilities equipment. You’ll diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance, and mentor others while leading root cause analyses to reduce downtime. This role offers the chance to shape network-wide automation improvements within a safety-conscious, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, fault-find, and repair automation systems to maximize equipment availability
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on automation, robotics, and control panels
• Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment and escalate as needed
• Document work in CMMS and ticketing systems
• Mentor maintenance personnel on automation, controls, and robotics
• Lead root cause analysis of major downtime events
• Act as network resource for technical issues and lead network-wide RCA
• Develop knowledge on intermediate to advanced automation and robotics
• Partner with engineering on commissioning new controls systems
• Audit vendor work and provide feedback on quality and SLAs
• Write/modify preventive maintenance tasks to standardize across the network

Key requirements

• Qualified or practical understanding in Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience in Automation, Mechanical, or Maintenance Engineering in manufacturing/production
• Proficient with PLC-controlled systems and automated processes (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs)
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics
• Experience with reactive and preventive maintenance and CMMS tasks
• Exposure to material handling systems, flow analysis, capacity visualization, and process monitoring
• Strong communication and mentoring skills, able to coach junior engineers
• Experience in leading Root Cause Analysis and supporting CI initiatives
• Familiarity with DIQ and WMS systems
