Operations Manager – Electrical Infrastructure

Overview

In this leadership role you take full ownership of operations, guiding five Senior Project Managers and delivering substation builds, extensions, and cable routes across the UK. You’ll work with the Director to drive growth and help the company progress toward Tier 1 contractor status. You will be a hands-on leader, develop talent, and ensure projects are safe, on time, and within budget. This is a pivotal step in shaping the business’s evolution and long-term direction.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of operations and lead a team of 5 Senior Project Managers
• Oversee delivery of substation builds, extensions and cable route projects
• Ensure projects meet safety, schedule, and budget requirements
• Act as primary contact for major clients including DNOs and National Grid
• Support strategic ambition to achieve Tier 1 contractor status
• Provide strong leadership to project teams and drive operational excellence
• Collaborate with the Director on business planning and growth strategy

Key requirements

• Background in construction, contracting, or electrical infrastructure
• Experience working with DNOs, National Grid, or SSEN
• Substation experience essential, including 132kV and 33kV
• Approximately 8–10 years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with a Tier 1 contractor would be advantageous
